Kids do not forget. Others may brush this "horseplay" off as something insignificant, because "kids will be kids." However, the trauma a kid receives from teasing and name-calling does not fade. There is a good poem that talks about this. http://www.tothisdayproject.com/the_poem.html
I think that although there are many programs available today that call attention to the problem of bullying, and although more and more people are educating themselves about it and bringing the issue to light, it is not enough. We can't rise above this problem unless people learn to accept one another no matter what. We can't rise above this problem unless everybody is in on it and actually cares.
